The DIA Awards are now in their third decade and have undergone a rapid growth over the course of the last four years, which has also seen a dramatic increase in the quality of the over all submissions. Our annual Awards are a key part of our strategies to promote architecture via education and engagement with the general public. This year sees our most successful Awards with a remarkable seventy six entries from architects and their clients spread around the country. They have set a benchmark which we hope has helped to increase the quality of design and client aspirations alike, whilst underlining the extent of talent available locally. The Awards cover a number of categories which represent the diverse work load of most architects from the DIA Chapter. The categories are: Best Public / Commercial Building Best Housing Project Best Private House Best Interior Design Project Best Environmental Improvement / Conservation Design DIA Regeneration Award Best Commercial / Private Client DIA Ambassador Award Best Small Project
Each year the DIA Awards are launched in April, with the deadline for submissions in July, their short listing in September, and judging in October. All short listed entries are exhibited during early November, with the winners being announced at the DIA’s Awards Dinner held later that month. The Awards are structured to provide the maximum publicity for entrants, the profession and of course our sponsors. Each stage of the Awards is therefore publicised in the local and professional press, culminating the Awards Dinner itself which ahs been designed to applaud the efforts of the clients and architects in question. The DIA would like to thank the Royal Bank of Scotland for their continued and invaluable support as our main sponsor. From the Institute’s point of view their presence underlines the quality of the Awards and the financial importance of architecture to the local economy. After all we hope that the DIA Awards reveal that good design will add value to any project. Add link to a message from RBS The DIA also wish to thank the category sponsors for their valuable contribution to the ongoing success of the awards.
